Case description

An anonymous woman from Blanzay reportedly saw a saucer-shaped object in a roadside field while travelling toward Civray in October 1954. The local account places the event between 8 and 12 October without specifying a time. Beside the object stood a very short, exceptionally broad figure, described as about as wide as it was tall, with enormous luminous eyes. The recoverable story contains no conversation, approach, boarding sequence or departure description. It also gives no measured distance, object dimensions, clothing, skin colour or detailed facial anatomy beyond the eyes. The Atlas’s car context is preserved, but the available fuller summaries do not establish whether she stopped, how long she watched, or what she thought the figure was. Those gaps make a restrained contextual reconstruction more faithful than a highly detailed alien portrait. Jean Sider and LDLN cite Le Journal de Civray of 14 October 1954, page 6. Patrick Gross’s source comparison locates the reported place-name, La Combe d’Airoux, possibly at Combedéroux beside the Blanzay–Civray road, while noting the account’s unknown credibility and lack of investigation. One later citation gives an inconsistent newspaper date. The plate consequently uses the month, keeps the figure’s unusual stocky proportions and luminous eyes, and leaves its other features unresolved.
