Case description
At about 9 p.m. on 12 October 1954, farm worker Franzesko Beuc reportedly noticed a small vehicle beside National Road 461 near Orchamps-Vennes, France. Contemporary newspaper accounts described a machine resembling a Renault 4CV, supported by four wheels approximately forty centimeters across. Beuc said he approached within a meter and saw a short man, about 1.5 meters tall, wearing leather clothing and a cap.
When Beuc addressed him, the man reportedly entered the vehicle without replying. It moved along the road for about thirty meters, then appeared to rise like an airplane. The catalogue's thirty-minute wording conflicts with the thirty-meter distance in earlier accounts. Beuc related the story at a local café; it reached the press about two weeks afterward. Later summaries increasingly replaced the car, wheels and human clothing with an unspecified craft and alien pilot.
Patrick Gross reproduces the early press and Jean Tyrode's later inquiries with local residents, the employer and gendarmerie. Those sources raise language and visibility problems; a later local correspondent described the event as a car misidentification in fog. That interpretation is relevant, but differs from a documented hoax confession. The earliest description supports showing an ordinary-looking car and short human driver, while leaving the alleged airborne departure disputed.
