Case description
A chemist at Ferrara’s Montecatini factory reportedly noticed a brilliant object during a break outside on the evening of October 14, 1954. The catalogue places the observation at about 8 p.m. According to the account preserved by Maurizio Verga and summarized in INTCAT, the light was behind the worker; when he turned, he saw an object hovering a few metres above the ground, roughly 150 metres away.
Three small figures were associated with a ladder hanging beneath it. The imported abstract calls the object ovoid and describes the beings descending, while another retelling describes figures clinging to a railing. The consistent core is a bright low-hovering object and three small figures; the precise arrangement should not be treated as firmly established. No dependable facial anatomy or clothing description survives in these summaries. The database’s optional “Grey” wording supplies no evidence for large black eyes or a familiar modern alien design.
The worker reportedly went to fetch other people. By the time he returned, the object was gone, so those additional people cannot be counted as witnesses to its earlier appearance. INTCAT traces the report to L’Unità of October 15, 1954, through later Italian research. The available material preserves a newspaper-derived claim rather than a detailed investigation or a verified landing site. The plate consequently keeps the figures indistinct in the object’s intense light.
