Nne / Le Vigan, Gard, FR being encounter — October 15, 1954

The Atlas describes a 30-by-six-metre cigar-shaped object on the ground northeast of Le Vigan on 15 October 1954, with helmeted figures visible through illuminated openings. The fuller source comparison reveals that this apparently simple landing entry belongs to a confused transmission chain, involving both Le Vigan and Nîmes-Courbessac and dates in 1952 as well as 1954. Jimmy Guieu’s earlier account, based on Jean Terrasson’s interview with mason Félix Fize, placed the event in mid-October 1952. Workers reportedly saw a yellow-silver cylindrical object pass overhead in haze, with large bright windows and five or six figures wearing khaki flying clothes, goggles and helmets. That version described an airborne passage, not a landing. Vallée’s subsequent catalogues instead described a grounded cigar and helmeted or masked occupants, sometimes under both years, while noting possible date confusion. Later authors repeated or attempted to reconcile these entries without establishing a separate 1954 landing. The competing descriptions therefore cannot be combined into one precise eyewitness sequence. The record retains its Atlas identity, but the narrative makes the date and flight-versus-ground conflict explicit. Its plate is labelled as the ground-version reconstruction and shows only the reported window occupants. It should not be interpreted as independent evidence that the alleged 1954 landing occurred separately from Fize’s earlier report.
