Near Nimes-Courbessac Airfield, FR being encounter — October 15, 1954

The Courbessac record contains a substantial date and event-type conflict. Jimmy Guieu's earlier account places mason Félix Fize and coworkers at a construction site near the Nîmes airfield in mid-October 1952. Around 7 p.m., they reportedly noticed a fast-moving whitish cloud which, seen side-on, appeared to contain a silver-yellow, cylindro-conical object with a rounded front and mist around its ends. Its estimated dimensions were 30 metres long and six metres across. Through three large, brightly illuminated openings, the witnesses said they saw five or six occupants to about waist level, dressed in khaki flight clothing, helmets and large goggles. The object reportedly crossed overhead, made a low rustling sound and accelerated toward Le Vigan. The account estimates an altitude of 600–800 metres and a duration of roughly 10–15 seconds, which raises an obvious question about how much occupant detail could actually have been resolved. Vallée's catalogue subsequently gives both a 1952 Le Vigan entry and a 15 October 1954 Courbessac landing, apparently duplicating and changing the earlier airborne account. Later authors repeated those conflicting versions. The plate follows the earlier aerial passage and explicitly labels the disagreement; it does not treat the imported 1954 landing as independently established.
