Case description
A brief local newspaper account from Sandrans, Ain, was later recovered by Jean Sider in his research on France’s 1954 wave. It concerned an anonymous villager who reportedly saw an elongated object in a meadow sometime between October 15 and 21. The cited newspaper, Trévoux Libre, appeared on October 22; the observation’s exact day and time were not established.
The object was described as cigar-shaped, approximately three metres long and one metre in diameter. A being or figure stood beside it. The machine then reportedly rose while making a loud whistling sound. The surviving summary does not supply the figure’s height, face, clothing, speech or manner of boarding, and it does not establish that the observer witnessed the object’s arrival.
Later catalogues, including Hatch, Rosales and Julien Gonzalez, repeat the short description with variations in dating and wording. Patrick Gross notes that a helicopter is a possible interpretation, rather than a demonstrated identification. No photograph or independently assessed material trace is provided in the accessible account. The plate retains the small horizontal cylinder and a deliberately indistinct adjacent figure, with an October-only title and an explicit warning that the time and occupant description are unrecorded.
