Case description
Fifteen-year-old farm worker Albert Géraud reportedly encountered an unusual object while cycling between Andigné and Saint-Martin-du-Bois in Maine-et-Loire during October 1954. The inherited entry gives October 18. A later source comparison identifies a contemporary newspaper dating the episode to Sunday, October 17, while other catalogues use October 20. The exact day therefore remains disputed.
Géraud said a light changed from green to yellow as it descended in jerky movements toward the road. Once down, it appeared to be a transparent saucer giving off a reddish glow. Inside he believed he could see a small figure, approximately 1.2 metres tall, covered in hair and watching him with very large eyes. He reportedly felt his legs would not move. The object then rose abruptly, producing a gust, and departed toward Le Lion-d'Angers. The accounts describe him as badly frightened afterward.
Later authors proposed a bet or hoax, while others challenged the supporting evidence and suggested that an owl might have contributed to the interpretation. None of those proposals supplies a securely demonstrated reconstruction here. The figure was reported inside the object, without a conversation or physical approach. Date changes and the differing explanations are retained alongside the original encounter claim.
