Case description
Alice Paquet was tending cows at Côte de la Chambre, near Moutier-Rozeille, at about 10 a.m. on October 18, 1954, when she heard conversation in a language she could not understand. The sound came from a patch of heather. Two men emerged and approached to an estimated fifty metres from her.
They appeared of ordinary human stature, approximately 1.8 metres tall, and wore black or dark-blue overalls. One turned toward Mr Blanchon’s mill and called out while gesturing. Two further men reportedly appeared and went down toward the Rozeille, joining the first pair before all disappeared. About fifteen minutes later, Paquet’s dog began barking. She then saw a dark cigar-shaped object, described in one version as roughly five metres long, rise silently and depart slowly toward the southwest.
The account is traced to La Montagne of October 27, 1954, and later Creuse investigators and Figuet–Ruchon. Some retellings differ about the total number of men. Hatch also changes the departure to fast and southeastward. The men and object were reported in separate phases, without a witnessed boarding. Their human appearance and unfamiliar speech alone do not establish a nonhuman identity.
