Case description
At about 10:45 p.m. on October 18, 1954, Marie-Louise Bourriot was riding home along RN437 beside Lake Saint-Point in the Doubs. Near Le Vézenay she saw a red light illuminating the road ahead. She initially thought it belonged to a vehicle, and it went out before she reached the location.
She then reported a humanlike man near the roadside and two much smaller, dark figures crossing in front of her. Later retellings describe pale coveralls, but Jean Tyrode's subsequent re-interview instead gives the taller figure a dark coat or cape and a hat; the smaller figures were entirely black and difficult to describe. Bourriot accelerated away. Only later, after looking back, did she report a red oval object rising over the area.
Small footprints or furrows were reportedly found afterward, but their descriptions and interpretation vary. Suggestions involving scouts and an adult leader were discussed; another later suggestion that the man was an abductee is speculation, not something Bourriot observed. The plate uses a labelled reconstruction of the reported sequence, combining the road figures and later red light in one landscape while making no claim that all were seen simultaneously.
