Case description
Bruno Senesi’s Livorno report circulated during the October 1954 European saucer wave. The HUMCAT entry says he saw two shining objects emitting smoke descend into a field, after which small red beings emerged and pursued him. Contemporary newspaper dispatches describe the 34-year-old arriving at hospital in intense agitation and asking for protection from the supposed visitors.
When staff returned with a doctor, Senesi had hidden beneath a bed and was trembling. Some newspaper accounts used sensational and stigmatizing language about his condition. That reporting establishes a public story about his distress, not an independently witnessed encounter with the objects or beings. The recovered accounts do not document capture, transport inside a craft or an examination.
Dating is unsettled in the record. HUMCAT initially lists October 19, then records an Italian-source correction to October 17, early morning; French dispatches dated October 19 refer to a hospital arrival the previous evening. The plate therefore uses October 1954 rather than presenting one disputed day as certain. The beings’ precise anatomy, the objects’ construction and the alleged pursuit lack the detail needed for a definitive visual reconstruction. Senesi’s fear neither verifies the encounter nor establishes a deliberate hoax.
