Case description
On 19 October 1954, Paolo Cutizi and Giulio Emery reportedly saw a fluorescent object while in a park at Fabriano, Italy. The fuller summaries place the event at about 10:30 p.m., an hour later than the imported catalogue. As they approached, they described a hovering disc roughly six meters across, emitting violet flashes and carrying an unusually tall illuminated antenna. A ladder extended from its underside toward the ground.
Two figures about 1.2 meters tall reportedly descended. The witnesses compared them to robots and described their eyes as sharp-looking and dark red. The figures allegedly made metallic-sounding noises and an unintelligible phrase before climbing back aboard. The object then departed. The comparison with robots is part of the account; it does not establish mechanical construction or provide a complete anatomical description.
Jacques Vallée's catalogue cites Il Messaggero of 24 October 1954, while later bibliographies add Cronache. INTCAT interprets the story as likely satire, pointing to the witnesses' literary backgrounds, including Cutizi's work as a satirist. That assessment is a proposed explanation rather than a cited confession or independently demonstrated fabrication. The report belongs to the 1954 press wave and should retain both its specific antenna-and-ladder sequence and the question over its literal intent.
