Case description
The Ernemont-sur-Buchy account begins before dawn on October 23, 1954, around 5:10 a.m. One resident was reportedly awakened by a night bird near his window and noticed an unusually intense crescent-shaped light descending into a field about three hundred metres away. He called another resident, and both watched the site.
They described three shadows illuminated as if by torches, moving away in different directions. During the following hour, they reportedly heard a motorlike sound and saw lights go out and return. The shadows reappeared; another approach by a motorist was followed by further changes in illumination. Around 6:15 a.m., a stronger light and then a luminous trail marked the end of the display. One witness later reported finding flattened grass at the suspected location.
The fuller modern retelling cites Le Bulletin de l'Arrondissement de Rouen of October 29, 1954. Its three shadowy forms do not provide recoverable facial or anatomical detail, and the claimed lighting failures are not matched here to independently verified utility records. This is also distinct from a November 13 incident near Buchy involving a motorist and perceived paralysis. The plate preserves two observers, the crescent light and three indistinct figures while identifying its compressed viewing distance.
