Case description
This very short report concerns a small human-like figure allegedly seen on the Mediterranean shore at Aïn-el-Turck, near Oran in Algeria, on October 24, 1954. Its distinctive recorded feature is unusually luminous or shining eyes. Jacques Vallée included it as case304 in his landing catalogue, with the brief source reference Quincy; the Hatch database subsequently preserved the same essential information.
The recovered catalogue wording does not identify the witness, give a reliable time or observation distance, describe clothing or explain the figure’s actions. It also does not mention a craft. The description therefore supports neither a detailed alien portrait nor a scene of an occupant stepping out of a saucer. Some secondary compilations use October3, while the Magonia-derived account gives October24; the latter is retained here with that bibliographical reservation.
The entry belongs to a period with many humanoid reports, but neighbouring cases cannot supply its missing details or establish a shared cause. No original interview, photograph or physical trace was recovered for this record. The plate consequently illustrates the coastal setting and the limited small-figure description, with the observer’s appearance and lighting explicitly treated as artistic context. Its presence in a UFO catalogue is not itself evidence that an extraterrestrial being was observed.
