Castiglione D / Pescaia, ITL being encounter — October 24, 1954

Ulderico Cardinali reportedly encountered a small object among marsh reeds near Castiglione della Pescaia in October 1954. The Atlas and later NICAP chronology assign October 24, while a HUMCAT card gives October 25. Both place the episode around six in the morning, when he was walking along a path in the marshy countryside. A humming or buzzing sound drew his attention into the reeds. He described a disc only about two meters across, with a small figure nearby wearing yellowish-brown coveralls. The figure entered the object, which departed rapidly at low altitude, brushing or closely passing the reed tops. No conversation or physical contact was recorded. The source cards disagree about the figure’s height: one gives roughly four-and-a-half feet, while an Italian catalogue correction reduces it to about one meter. Neither supplies a detailed face or a distinctive nonhuman anatomy. HUMCAT cites Vallée’s Magonia and Francesco Izzo’s Italian catalogue, the latter referring to Il Messaggero of October 26. Although the imported entry mentions traces, the consulted narrative does not establish a measured, independently analyzed ground mark. The date and height variations therefore remain explicit.
