Vallée’s short catalogue version places Ermellina Lanzillo near Grosseto at 23:30 on 27 October 1954. Looking for her cat from a window, she reportedly saw a strange figure in the garden. It appeared plump but narrow-shouldered, with ape-like eyes and a head resembling a diving helmet. She felt unable to move from fear until her niece called, after which she withdrew. That is the version underlying this record and its plate, but other source comparisons differ substantially. Accounts collected in INTCAT use the name Ermelinda, date the event approximately 20 October, place her outside near a pig pen, describe two or three sturdy helmeted figures, and identify a nephew rather than a niece. Those details should not be blended into one apparently consistent testimony. Hatch marks the entry with a hoax code, while the reviewed catalogue comparisons emphasize confused, changing versions rather than supplying an identifiable confession.
