Case description
An angler on the River Dese near Marocco, Italy, reportedly noticed a greenish light through thick fog on the night of 1 November 1954. He called out without receiving an answer. As he watched, the light appeared to come from a mushroom-shaped object. Numerous small, stockily built figures moved into and out of it. The witness waved at them, but the account says they continued their activity without acknowledging him.
The episode ended when the object rose vertically, producing an orange flash underneath. This fuller sequence supplies more detail than the Atlas summary, which describes a low green saucer and figures visible inside. Neither version provides a measured viewing distance, a securely established duration, or a sufficiently detailed description of the beings’ faces or clothing. The fog is an important part of the reported observing conditions, rather than evidence that fine anatomical details could be distinguished.
Albert Rosales’s compilation attributes the account to Maurizio Verga’s ITACAT catalogue. That makes the available narrative a catalogue transmission of an alleged encounter, rather than a reproduced witness interview or independently documented landing. The plate illustrates the reported combination of angler, green mushroom-shaped object and short figures. Their exact number, appearance and the riverbank arrangement remain unspecified by the source.
