Santo Amaro, Brz being encounter — November 2, 1954

Taxi driver Maurilio Braga Godoi's Santo Amaro story is dated 2 November 1954, but its clock time varies substantially between sources. The Atlas ledger gives 00:30, a Lorenzen account prints 10:30 a.m., and other retellings give 22:30. In the fuller account, Godoi left the streetcar terminal and walked home through a deserted area. Near Andaguara Street he saw a large circular object in a vacant lot between houses, surrounded by a reddish-blue or violet glow. Fear and an inability to call out allegedly gave way to curiosity. Godoi said he entered through an open sliding door. Inside a softly illuminated circular room, he found an unusual table carrying charts. One appeared to depict South America with luminous, mushroom-like marks. Looking up, he reportedly faced three men less than five feet tall. They had dark brown skin and very short black hair, and wore light gray one-piece garments with belts supporting objects he interpreted as possible weapons. They watched him and spoke among themselves in an unfamiliar language. These are humanlike descriptions, rather than the generic Gray anatomy suggested by some catalogue classifications. He said he backed out involuntarily, jumped to the ground and fled. Turning back, he saw the object rising, with something screw-like beneath its centre, before its rapid silent departure. Lorenzen relates claims of Air Force involvement and psychiatric examination, but the corresponding official files were not recovered here. The illustration is explicitly an interior/exterior composite; it does not establish the reported craft's construction or resolve the conflicting times.
