Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 36: Gonzalo Vega discovered an unusual horizontal shape with three projections in a test photograph taken at Rosario on 6 December 2012. CEFAE used the exposure data and the shape's repeated structure to interpret it as an insect motion trace, often called a flying rod. A one-sixth-second exposure could record about one and a half wingbeat cycles. The explanation does not require a solid rod-shaped vehicle.
The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
