Official source account — 2023 annual report, printed page 34: A witness at Villa Yacanto submitted two nighttime videos of brief flashes close to the horizon, dated 6 and 9 February 2023. CIAE selected the second because it showed more lights moving in formation, appearing briefly in a narrow band of sky before fading. A Stellarium reconstruction and comparisons with similar observations supported sunlight reflecting from Starlink satellites. The official case heading specifies 9 February, while the index says 5 February. This account retains the multiple reported dates and the index discrepancy. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
