Official source account — 2022 annual report, printed page 90: Marcelo Fiorito noticed an unusual feature after reviewing his photograph from Potrero de los Funes, San Luis, dated 23 November 2008. Enlargement and enhanced contrast revealed a central body and two translucent elliptical projections, including a membranous surface. CIAE considered the shape compatible with an insect that passed unnoticed in front of the camera during exposure. There had been no corresponding direct observation. The report classified this biological explanation as Type B because the brief crossing could not be reproduced or independently checked.
