Official source account — 2021 annual report, printed page 83: A CIAE member recovered a small radio-transmitting balloon at Castelar on 14 August 2021 after its descent was followed. The instrument was identified as a Skytracker pico-balloon launched earlier that month from Villa Gesell by Ignacio Mazzitelli. CIAE concluded that its eastward launch and later arrival from the west indicated a complete circuit of the Southern Hemisphere. The recovery-based identification was classified Type A.
The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
