Official source account — 2020 annual report, printed page 50: Leandro Ivern noticed a light below and to the left of the Moon only after reviewing his photograph. CIAE connected the suspect point with the Moon and checked their positions relative to the camera's optical centre. The alignment and equal distances satisfied the geometry of an internal lens reflection. The agency therefore classified the apparent object as a lunar lens flare, Type A. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
