Official source account — 2023 annual report, printed page 141: A woman at Lanús discovered two parallel, elongated lights while reviewing a photograph. CIAE compared their position, shape and number with a bright public-lighting fixture elsewhere in the frame. Optical-geometry analysis supported internal lens reflections of that fixture. The report's index dates the case to 11 September 2023, while the actual case heading says 11 September 2012. Both source dates are retained and the event date remains unresolved. The official optical explanation does not resolve that separate documentary discrepancy.
The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
