Ramos Mejía aircraft photograph

Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 43: A Ramos Mejía witness photographed two apparent objects near a Piper PA-28 on 18 February 2016, deliberately waiting for the aircraft to provide scale. CEFAE interpreted the shapes as a pair of white herons much closer than the aircraft. Its analysis attributed their unusual elongation to a one-sixtieth-second exposure, camera panning opposite the birds' flight and their shorter distance. The proposed distances depend on an assumed bird size. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
