Buenos Aires lunar-eclipse photograph

Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 5: While photographing a lunar eclipse in Buenos Aires on 28 September 2015, a witness recorded a faint luminous spot below and left of the Moon. CEFAE identified an internal reflection using its alignment with the Moon and the optical center of the image. It also attributed four orb-like marks to dust or tiny droplets on the lens. The official explanation concerns the camera optics rather than objects independently seen in the sky. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
