Cristian Galati Moon photograph

Official source account — 2019 annual report, printed page 24: Cristian Galati discovered an apparent object in a photograph taken at Temperley on 16 June 2018. CIAE separately identified Venus near the Moon using a sky reconstruction. It then checked the geometry of another unusual mark higher in the image against the strongest light source and the optical center. The agency's Type A conclusion attributed that mark to internal lens flare, distinguishing it from the real astronomical objects in the photograph. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
