Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 64: Francisco Conforti said he photographed a white object, but the submitted Monte Grande image showed only a dark, blurred point. CEFAE interpreted that point as a nearby insect and noted that the Moon occupied the relevant sky direction. The source is inconsistent: its index dates the case 9 October 2016, while the body heading says 23 December 2013. The report's biological conclusion is retained without silently choosing between those dates. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
