Jorge Saunders satellite flare

Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 32: Jorge Saunders photographed the Milky Way from Río Pico on 22 December 2013 using a tripod and a 25-second exposure. He later noticed a bright flash near the horizon. CEFAE reconstructed the satellite positions and concluded that sunlight reflected from Iridium 60 matched the image and observation data. The agency interpreted the event as an Iridium flare, inadvertently captured while the photographer was targeting the stars. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
