Valeria Verde photograph

Official source account — 2016 annual report, printed page 60: Valeria Verde found an apparent object near the upper-left edge of a photograph taken at La Poma, Salta, on 22 September 2012. CEFAE identified a nearby flying insect, citing its body shape, protected thorax, forward-projecting legs and wings. The agency considered it compatible with a cicada. It discussed possible size and distance ranges but did not establish the exact species or a precise camera-to-insect distance. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
