Luis Suárez drifting object — Monte Grande, Buenos Aires Province, 12 May 2021

Official source account — 2023 annual report, printed page 119: Luis Suárez saw a brilliant white, roughly spherical object approaching slowly on a straight course over Monte Grande and filmed it for several minutes. He thought it rotated irregularly and noticed something moving around it in individual frames. CIAE compared the appearance and behavior with a helium balloon and considered the timing of morning weather-balloon releases from Ezeiza International Airport. The official report concluded that the combined evidence was compatible with a balloon released for the airport's morning meteorological sounding, while preserving the witness's description. The summaries distinguish reported observations from the agency’s proposed explanations. Source Type A/B ratings describe explanatory confidence and are not encounter classes. The map uses an approximate GeoNames locality centroid, not the observation point.
