Brazilian archive report — Rio de Janeiro, GB — 1972-08-02

The recovered handwritten page is an information request sent from Rio de Janeiro on 2 August 1972, when the city formed the state of Guanabara. Its author, Allan Martins Costa, identified himself as a twenty-year-old university student in the third year of engineering and a resident of Bonsucesso. He addressed the Centro Técnico Aeroespacial, the Brazilian aerospace technical centre, rather than reporting an event to police or describing an emergency at his home. Costa expressed considerable interest in unidentified objects and matters associated with extraterrestrial research. Supposing that the centre had a department dealing with those subjects, he asked to participate through publications and to receive information about the topic. That supposition belongs to the student’s letter; the page does not confirm the existence or responsibilities of any such department. It also does not record a reply, acceptance into a project, subsequent investigation or actual contact with extraterrestrial beings. Nothing in the letter describes a craft’s shape, a sighting time, occupants, unusual physical effects or a location where an encounter took place. Its date and place therefore belong to correspondence history, and the imported CE 3 designation is unsupported by the document’s contents. The National Archives reference confirms the preserved item’s provenance, not the truth of an encounter absent from the page. The plate depicts an illustrative 1972 engineering student writing an inquiry, with an anonymous facial likeness and period study materials. It is labelled as a research-information request and adds no craft or alien scene.
