Brazilian archive report — Pelotas, RS — 1973-10-07

Maria Farias Leivas, 66, reported hearing footsteps inside her house at Balneário dos Prazeres, Pelotas, at about 10:00 on 7 October 1973. Finding nobody inside, she went to the entrance and saw a thin, human-looking young man at the gate. She described East Asian-appearing features, height 1.50–1.60 metres, and grey-blue clothing with diamond designs and an unfamiliar belt buckle. The visitor allegedly said he had entered to examine her son’s fishing net and came from another planet. Maria initially suspected a prank. He pointed upward; she then saw a large empty rope basket, approximately two metres high, descend and touch down nearby. The supporting cord’s upper attachment and claimed ship were not visible. He carried a small coil of shiny yellow-silver rope and claimed its material had medicinal properties; those claims were not demonstrated. After roughly five minutes, he asked her to watch his departure. She felt faint, supported herself on the gate, and found both visitor and basket gone when she recovered. SPIPDV’s civilian report, prepared in 1975, also recounts her adult son feeling watched about a year later; he did not describe seeing this visitor. Preservation in Brazil’s National Archives records the allegation, not military confirmation.
