Brazilian archive report — Porto Nacional, TO — 1990-09-08

Luiz Sérgio Costa Lemos reported an unusual luminous object during a flight from Belém to Brasília near Porto Nacional, Tocantins, on 8 September 1990. The questionnaire includes the time fields 22:08Z and 23:35Z and places the observer at flight level 210. He described a small rounded light, predominantly red and orange, in clear skies. Its distance was loosely estimated at one hundred nautical miles. The account describes apparent movement from west to east, across the observer's twelve-o'clock position and perpendicular to the aircraft's track, with horizontal movement and a uniform apparent ascent. No sound or trail was noted. The form mentions the commander of PT-LTQ as accompanying him, while another field refers to PT-LFX; the preserved text does not resolve the registration discrepancy. The duration field is obscured, so the two clock entries should not simply be converted into an exact sighting length. The most consequential qualification is the observer's own conclusion: after prolonged watching, he believed the object was a star. He initially considered something different because of the diffusion of colours. That interpretation belongs in the account rather than being lost behind a CE3 label. No occupant, landing, material sample or photograph is reported. The illustration consequently retains a distant stellar point and the crew's observational setting, not an invented vehicle or encounter with beings.
