Case description
On 18 April 2009, at 13:45 as entered on the report, TAM pilot Marcelo Homann and another crew member observed a small metallic triangular object during flight from Curitiba toward ANISE, abeam Paranaguá. The form places the aircraft at approximately 37,000 feet in clear conditions and gives a viewing duration of about ten seconds. The observation was made with the naked eye.
The object was estimated to have a three-metre wingspan and positive dihedral, meaning its wings angled upward. It was reportedly ten to twenty metres above the aircraft, moving steadily with a defined heading and approximately the same course. A later telephone note says the TAM aircraft overtook it, indicating a lower relative speed. The accompanying sketch is a simple arrowhead-like outline, not a detailed engineered design. Homann compared its appearance to a photogrammetric or aerial-survey model.
No sound, trail, lights or physical recording was reported. The file contains the account and administrative processing, including later declassification stamps, rather than a technical identification. Neither occupants nor a landing appear in the report, despite the imported entity classification. The plate therefore uses the sketched triangular form without adding a dome, cabin windows or alien crew. Its cockpit view, portraits, scale and perspective are illustrative interpretations of a brief aviation sighting.
