Flight between Rio de Janeiro and Navegantes; SBTC–SBJF route recorded, Brazil
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
Around 00:00 Z on 25 November 2025, a pilot on a flight between the Rio de Janeiro and Navegantes regions reported distant white lights. The form’s object count appears as four to six. They resembled stars but seemed larger than ordinary stars, and the pilot described them as very distant, about 30 degrees above the aircraft at flight level 430. For approximately an hour, lights moved in straight lines, changed direction and repeatedly formed triangular arrangements. No sound or trail was reported. The pilot also described intermittent loss of radio communication; the report does not establish that the lights caused it. No observing equipment or physical recording was used. The flight note records SBTC–SBJF and a captain with 26 years’ experience who said the sight was unlike anything previously seen. CINDACTA II received the report at 01:45 Z.
Source review: One page visually reviewed. The occurrence locality and recorded flight-route codes are preserved without forcing them into a single inferred coordinate. The equipment interference claim is temporally reported, but causation is not asserted. CE2 is appropriate for the reported radio effect; see explicit classification field below.
