Case description
Louis Moll, described in contemporary press as a rural guard at Oberdorff, reported an unusual light near Tromborn on Sunday evening, 19 September 1954. Returning home around 9:15 p.m., he noticed a strong glow approaching from the east and descending toward the hills. It remained very low, or appeared to settle, for roughly forty seconds.
The accounts compare its apparent dimensions with a small bus and its light with a neon tube. Moll said the glow became reddish and that he thought he saw dark points moving within it. After a sudden rotation, it rose almost vertically, became an orange or red ball, flattened and departed rapidly southeast. The entire observation was reported as lasting about a minute. A later catalogue adds a silhouette in front of the object, but the earlier press does not establish a clearly resolved occupant.
Moll waited several days before telling the gendarmes, reportedly because he feared ridicule; a resident of Téterchen had also asked him about the light. Newspaper accounts mention an inquiry and a search for other observers, but the original investigation file was not recovered here. The plate preserves an ambiguous luminous mass and dark points, rather than inventing a bus-shaped machine or identifiable alien.
