Case description
Louis Moll, a rural warden in the Oberdorff–Tromborn area of Moselle, described an unusual light on the evening of September 19, 1954, around 9:15 p.m. It appeared to the east, crossed the sky, slowed, and descended toward heights east of Tromborn. He watched from some distance.
In the fuller account reproduced by later investigators, the light diminished and the object appeared roughly as large as a small bus. After about forty seconds, its glow became reddish. Moll thought he could see something dark moving in front of it, described only as a silhouette. The light then rose vertically and moved rapidly toward the southeast, appearing round and later flattened before disappearing. Contemporary newspapers reported his observation, and later catalogues compressed it into a landing-and-occupant entry.
This is a catalogue variant of the Louis Moll report, not evidence for a second independent Tromborn encounter. Some summaries alter the day, time, duration, or number of observers. A dark shape glimpsed at a distance supplies no reliable face, clothing, species, or communication. The illustration consequently shows the warden, a low luminous object, and a small unresolved silhouette; its detailed terrain and visual framing are reconstructed.
