Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
At about 7:30 a.m. on January 11, 1958, a U.S. Navy P2V-5F aircraft was operating over the Bering Sea roughly 150 miles north of Atka Island in the Aleutians. The pilot reported a formation of three lights traveling at approximately nine hundred knots. Airborne radar tracked the formation, and the three returns were reported to merge into a single target. The available chronology entry does not preserve the later course or manner of disappearance. A similar report dated January 14 may describe the same event, but the two records are retained separately pending clearer identification.
