Case description
On October 19, 1973, four young men drove two cars up Le Malmont near Draguignan, France, to investigate an orange-yellow light reported earlier by acquaintances. The later group described a diffuse white glow and unusual figures near the mountain road rather than a clear view of the original aerial object.
Accounts describe slow-moving figures in one-piece clothing, red lights near their waists, and unusually shaped headgear. One car reportedly suffered a loss of headlights and dashboard lighting; its occupants also described an apparent sideways displacement. Other reported sensations included heat, a burnt-insulation smell, shaking, whistles, and a powerful light.
The two cars' experiences should not be flattened into one identical sequence: Mark Rodeghier's vehicle-interference review distinguishes their reported effects. The source trail includes Flying Saucer Review volume 20, number 4, and French investigations. No physical traces are recorded in the fuller chronology. The plate represents the mountain-road phase, with the precise appearance of the figures and cars reconstructed rather than treated as documentary images.
