Case description
Shortly after midnight on March 23, 1974, Gösta Häger left a parish house at Markim, Sweden. In the fuller account, he felt compelled to walk home along an unfamiliar, wooded route. A bright white light approached rapidly from the side, and he threw himself toward a snow-filled ditch. His next clear awareness was at his own doorstep, holding a handkerchief to an injury on his forehead; his cheek also bore a mark.
A later investigation arranged two hypnotic sessions. In the account described during those sessions, he was lifted before reaching the ditch and found himself with four tall, hooded figures. He recalled their communication as melodic sounds. When one raised an instrument, he struggled and knocked a figure down; another then placed a device against his head, producing a burning sensation.
Häger said that the figures discouraged him from seeking medical help and told him they would meet again. He associated the end of the experience with being returned to his doorstep, where his wife found him ringing the bell. Later accounts also describe changes he attributed to the experience, including changes in vision and unusual sensitivities.
This Markim entry is an alternate catalogue version of the Häger account, not an additional independently documented journey. The compressed catalogue mentions a car and transparent figures, while the fuller account describes him walking and encountering hooded occupants. Those differences remain part of the source history.
