ST. NAZAIRE-EN-ROYANS, FR, Drôme, France
Case description
On 9 January 1976, heating technician Jean Dolecki reported an unusual sight beside a road between Saint-Romans and Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans. Contemporary newspapers place it around 7:15–7:30 p.m.; later catalogues sometimes give Échevis, where he lived. He described a large object shaped like an Italian coffee pot, with a narrow waist and a larger upper section, at or just above a roadside field.
Three figures reportedly appeared around it. Le Dauphiné Libéré's account of 12 January describes them as nearly two metres tall, without apparent arms, each possessing a telescopic pole. The expanded HUMCAT version calls them aluminium-diving-suit-like robots with square heads, disproportionately short legs and a chest-mounted pole instead of arms. It adds a bright lower light, vibrating upper surface and small vertical helices. After moving mechanically around the object, the figures returned and it rapidly departed.
The sources differ on dimensions, witness age and some bodily details. One nearby elderly couple reported brief television interruptions, while another farmer reported neither interference nor unusual marks when the field was ploughed. Those mixed observations do not independently verify the craft. The plate follows the distinctive expanded robot description and coffee-pot form, while noting dimensional uncertainty and preserving the difference between the witness's claim and corroborated evidence.
