Case description
A man identified as David reported four small figures outside a hotel in Crystal Lake, Illinois, shortly after 23:00 on 12 June 1977. Douwe Bosga’s CUFOS case summary says David had met colleagues after losing his job and consumed approximately six or seven beers before stepping outside. He noticed three beings approaching from an alley, then saw a fourth on the ground a few feet in front of him.
The figures were slightly over four feet tall, with greenish metallic one-piece suits and bubble-like helmets. David recalled light-coloured eyes, unusually large feet and hands that seemed to have three or four oversized fingers, while acknowledging uncertainty about details. He described an impression of silence and stillness, as though in a vacuum. Two figures supported the fourth between them while the slightly taller third followed behind. Its bowed head and need for assistance led him to think it was unwell, but that was an impression, not a medical finding.
David said he returned to the hotel, told his colleagues and later reported the experience to police on 14 June. Bosga’s February 1978 summary records a telephone interview and possible future hypnosis, not an already completed regression. David’s earliest drawings had reportedly been discarded; later drawings survive. No craft or associated light was observed. The plate uses the supported walking sequence, with four helmeted figures and the witness together, avoiding injury imagery or an invented spacecraft.
