Polcanto, Firenze, ITL being encounter — October 9, 1984

Isidoro Ferri, a caretaker at Villa la Radicchia near Polcanto, Tuscany, said that a powerful light awakened him at approximately 3:30 a.m. in October 1984. The imported date is October 9, also used in an Italian Air Force index; some later accounts give October 29. The plate retains month-level dating to avoid concealing that conflict. Ferri described a dark humanlike figure on a nearby hill, with a light resembling a headlamp or beacon. The figure disappeared, and the account then describes changing forms of illumination, including a bright approaching light and a red sphere. He reported difficulty moving and later irritated eyes. Investigators described small ground depressions and pressed grass, while a radiation check reportedly found no anomaly. The source comparison by Patrick Gross notes differing versions, delayed publication, and the importance of the unavailable original investigation report by Pier Luigi Sani. The relationship between the figure, light, and traces is therefore not established merely by placing them together. The illustration depicts the distant hill observation from a domestic setting, with details reconstructed.
