Case description
The Burbank account concerns a four-year-old boy’s story, relayed to investigators through his father, rather than an adult’s observation of a landed object. At about 11:30 a.m. on October 16, 1973, the father, a law officer identified only by initials in Ann Druffel’s report, was asleep after working nights. His wife woke him because something was happening in their backyard. Their two-year-old son was pointing upward and the family’s white dog was barking. The older boy, called “Eddie” as a pseudonym, said that something big had landed.
According to the father, Eddie drew an oval object with a pointed dome and rays or haze underneath. After his father asked whether anything had been inside, the child drew four featureless pointed head shapes. He called them “monsters,” said they had come out and allowed him to look inside, and mentioned seeing a chair. He reportedly became frightened and went to tell his mother. This additional sequence belongs to the child’s reported account; neither parent was established as having witnessed it.
Druffel interviewed the father at home on October 25, but did not interview the children or their mother directly. The original drawings had been discarded. Replacement drawings differed in the craft’s shape and the position of the rays, while the father reconstructed the occupant shapes from memory. Investigators found no landing marks, compass anomaly or elevated radiation. The report preserves an unusual family story with substantial limits on independent verification, not evidence of an abduction.
