Case description
This entry is a catalogue variant of the Janine Séon report also held as UFO-0673. In the earliest newspaper account, ten-year-old Janine was tending cattle near Les Egots when she saw a white, windowed object descend behind a hillside. She approached with two dogs, which then retreated. She compared the vehicle to a large bin or elongated craft rather than supplying a technical design.
A figure slightly taller than the girl allegedly approached. It wore stiff, red, iron-like clothing and walked with straight legs. Janine described abundant hair, a hairy face and very large, round eyes. It spoke in a low voice she did not understand, displayed a flat green object, touched her shoulder and returned through an end door. The craft reportedly turned, rose with a sewing-machine-like sound and disappeared with coloured light or apparent flames. Her family described her returning pale and upset.
La Dépêche-La Liberté reported the story on 28 October 1954 and identified the preceding Sunday, 24 October; later accounts differ on time, date, number of figures and supporting children. A later hoax interpretation was challenged by subsequent interviews, while a helicopter-and-pilot misidentification has also been proposed. Neither interpretation is treated here as conclusively demonstrated.
The distinctive child, red metallic-looking outfit, facial hair and windowed object identify the same historical claim, not a new witness or independent corroboration. The plate follows the early one-figure version, keeps Janine safely clothed and omits physical contact.
