On the evening of 1 August, year not stated in this retelling, Aerolineas Argentinas Flight 734 circled after a blackout interrupted landing around 20:25. About ten minutes later, with lights restored, pilot Jorge Polanco, co-pilot Carlos Dortona, engineer Jorge Allende and another airline pilot saw a dazzling inverted-dish-shaped object apparently as large as a Boeing 737, with an orange pulsating top light and green lateral beams. It approached rapidly and stopped about one hundred metres ahead. The tower reported only a Gendarmerie aircraft two hundred metres above; its pilot, Captain Ruben Cipazuk, also reported seeing an object following the airliner. It moved forty to sixty metres to the right as though accompanying descent. A second blackout affected the city and airport and radio contact reportedly failed. Polanco climbed back to roughly one thousand metres; the object allegedly rose at a right angle to the same altitude in under two seconds, hovered briefly, crossed under the Boeing during a later descent and disappeared rapidly. The flight landed at 21:10. Tower staff also saw a large light, according to station chief Major Oviedo. Passengers were not described as direct UFO witnesses. The three aviation observing groups and attributed blackout sequence are preserved without asserting causation.
